Some buildings require a particularly thoughtful approach.

The project involved the transformation of a historic stable block adjoining Thurloxton Manor, a Grade II listed property in Somerset. As part of a wider renovation undertaken by Benjamin Henry Ltd, the building was carefully extended to create additional living accommodation.

A fundamental consideration throughout the project was ensuring that the new elements complemented the existing architecture. For our joinery workshop, this meant producing traditional timber sash windows that would feel entirely appropriate within their historic surroundings.

In heritage window manufacturing, the smallest details carry the greatest weight.

The proportions of a sash, the profile of its mouldings, the slender meeting rails & the pattern of the glazing bars all shape how a window reads within a historic façade. Considered individually for each building, these details are what allow new joinery to sit naturally within period architecture — faithful in character, without pretending to be something it is not.
